Artist's Description

Featured prominently on the cover of the February 1974 issue of Popular Science magazine is a photograph of a unique aircraft with forward-swept wings and what appears to be additional vertical stabilizers mounted perpendicularly on the wings. Headlines encircle the aircraft, proclaiming the issue’s spotlight on a "side-flying research plane" with "new aerodynamic controls" that grant it "impossible" performance. The cover also teases other contents such as using flywheels on trains to save electricity, a cold-weather car quiz, and new space photos.
